If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEdy7mbZ5ms . Thanks to Pityu Nagy for this beautiful, efficient, and effective antenna for 145 MHz.  This 2 meter antenna should give you about 3dB gain over a 1/4 wave length vertical antenna and considerably more gain over the "rubber duck" (stock) antenna that came with your HT. Here are some of Pity's observations: "A 5/8 wave J-pole antenna, that I made from copper tubing, a piece of steel wire from a mobile CB antenna, and other stuff. Works very well, has a SWR of 1.2-1. And also what I like about it, is that I can earth it at the bottom, so it's "lightning protected". 73!" ----- For the latest Amateur/Ham Radio news and information, please visit these websites: http://www.HawaiiARRL.info. http://www.arrl.org. http://www.blubrry.com/arrlaudionews/ http://www.hamradioupdate.com. http://www.southgatearc

My 40/20 Meter fan dipole antenna. Post 2161.

If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DMHVCrJZqY Thanks to KC2IRV for this concise, easy-to-understand guide to building a "classic " fan dipole antenna.  In this case, the antenna will cover both the 40 and 20 meter Amateur Radio bands without an antenna "tuner."  A "tuner" will be needed if other bands, such as 80 meters, will be used. Here are some observations from KC2IRV: "This is just a quick video of what I have setup for a 40/20 meter antenna. This antenna has been working very well for me in spite of how close it is to the ground. In a pinch it will even load up on 80 meters with a good tuner. I use common PVC 1" plumbing Tee's for my insulators." ----- For the latest Amateur/Ham Radio news and information, please visit these websites: http://www.HawaiiARRL.info. http://www.arrl.org. http://www.blubrry.com/arrlaudionews/ http:

If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bt5AAH4hVgs If you live near an ocean beach and currently enjoy warm weather, you may want to try this simple 10 meter magnetic loop antenna from Australian ham Peter Parker (VK3YE). The results of this simple antenna are impressive, given the small size of the magnetic loop.  Proximity to the ocean is a definite plus for this antenna. Peter has produced a nice collection of video tutorials for your library.  Here are some of his remarks: "Pedestrian mobile on 28 MHz with FT817 & 40cm magnetic loop antenna. PS: Like these videos?
