Building a 2 meter antenna (from a broom).

Image
Here's a fascinating father/daughter antenna project courtesy of a broom handle, wire, some pieces of pvc pipe, and various materials collected from a workroom. Strange as it seems, this project is simple, elegant, and dirt cheap! Many thanks to the "Transmitting Until Robots Replace Us" website for this intriguing experiment. Here are a few comments from the video producer: We built a 2m dipole antenna out of a broom handle, pvc and some other small pieces that we had laying around the house. Ham radio is such a wonderful hobby in part because simple builds like this are possible. No need for complicated and expensive builds... unless you want to! This amateur radio antenna's SWR turned out to be between 1.2 and 1.5 across the whole band, so not too bad. Music 1 songs A Ne

Building a Random Wire Antenna.

One of the easiest, least expensive HF antennas you can build is the "Classic" end fed long wire Antenna. In this video from Walt (SP/K4OGO), we follow an easy step-by-step procedure of designing, building, and testing of this basic HF antenna. Inverted "L Antennas-some neat options and unique trick.

The "classic" inverted "L" Antenna remains one of the best options for building a lower frequency HF antenna.  The inverted L" is easy to build, inexpensive, and saves a lot of space--prime concerns for radio amateurs living in deed-restricted areas. In this video, Peter Waters (G3OJV) explores several inverted "L" designs and discusses various "hints, tips, and tricks" to get the most out of this basic antenna. Here are some comments from Peter (G3OJV): The inverted "L" antenna has been one of the oldest and most popular antennas, particularly for the lower frequency ham bands. Peter G3OJV, takes a look at this antenna and highlights the many options for installing and feeding this antenna. One particular option is a unique way of feedi
