20m Moxon Beam Antenna-Basic Build & Overview.

Image
Collin (MM0OPX) does an excellent job of designing, building, and testing a modified Moxon Beam Antenna for the 20 meter Amateur Radio Band. According to Collin, this Moxon Antenna will deliver modest gain and rear signal rejection.  This project will be of interest to experimenters or to those who wish to improve their signals on the 20 meter ban. Here are some comments from Collin (MM0OPX): This is an overview of my 20m portable Moxon antenna. You will see in the video this is not far away from completion. This should be a brilliant antenna with good gain and rear rejection. I will weigh this for the next video but the total weight (minus mast) is around 2kg. Cost so far in materials is around £100.   ----- Thanks for joining us today. Aloha es 73 de Russ (KH6JRM).

How to build a QFH Antenna for NOAA Weather Satellites.

Image
If you need a special antenna to monitor NOAA weather satellites, then this "QFH Antenna" is for you. Matthew Eargle (the "AirborneSurfer") takes us step-by-step through the design, building, testing, and use of this easily-made antenna.  Matthew discusses both the theoretical and practical parameters of this useful antenna. If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XLURp33MBo. Here are some comments from Matthew: If you want to build an antenna to receive signals from a weather satellite, you will need a special kind of circular polarized antenna known as a quadrifilar helix antenna. In this video, we'll go through the theory and practice behind how to build a QFH antenna. These antennas are especially-made for NOAA weather satellite reception and are tuned to 137MHz to receive polar orbiting satellite signals. This is part of Project TIROS for element14 presents. Now that solar activity is "heating up", it's the perfect time to explore the often unpredictable world of the 10 meter amateur radio band. This band is open to Technician, General, Advanced, and Extra Class licencees.  All you need is a simple, cheap dipole antenna to get on 10 meters. In this video, Mike (K8MRD) takes us step-by-step through the theory, building, testing, and use of this basic HF antenna. Make an extra 10 meter dipole antenna for your portable and field operations...the antenna is easy to make and will offer hours of solid contacts. An enjoyable, instructive discussion on the properties of dipole antennas. This video from the Hungarian firm "FesZ Electronics" is concise, easy-to-understand, and helpful in designing dipole antennas for your home or portable ham station. If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fj-QwJ8jXJk. Here are a few comments from the video: n this video I set out to correct one of my previous mistakes and look at the finer details of dipole antennas and observe when exactly they are resonant. I have a look a some basic simulation results, and then proceed to build some antennas and try to observe what constructive parameters impact their resonance.
