Thanks to Tim (G5TM) for this "low profile" HF multiband antenna for radio amateurs living in deed-restricted housing. If you are careful about installing this small antenna, you will get an antenna that is nearly invisible while providing hours of radio contacts. If you can't see the video, please go here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzvukgpoDHI Here are some comments from Tim (G5TM): Live in a HOA or antenna restricted neighbourhood? What about this idea for a low profile multiband antenna for your QTH? Connect with my channel by subscribing and commenting. ----- Thanks for joining us today. Aloha es 73 de Russ (KH6JRM).

Broadband Terminated Dipole Antenna for ALE CHA TD

Image
Thanks to Julian (OH8STN) for this excellent presentation about Broadband Terminated Dipole Antennas.  Although these antennas have definite military and government applications, they can be used successfully for Amateur Radio operations. If you can't see the video, please go here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUFgLqEmCBY Here are some comments from Julian (OH8STN): LE stands for Automatic Link Establishment. It's a voice and data mode system especially useful for establishing phone or real-time messaging on HF between two stations, or from the single station to a group or network of stations. its primary role is emergency communications. One of the features of automatic link establishment, either with embedded ALE, PC-ALE, or MARS-ALE, is its constant scanning of bands and channels on HF. Because of this, a specialized tuner or an antenna which requires no tuner, should be used. In this case, I'm using the Chameleon CHA TD Broadband Terminated Dipole Antenna. I've

IC-7300 using gutter antenna or stealth Ham Radio

If you live in deed-restricted housing, you may find this unusual antenna from "Rich Rodgers Online" (WB5YBZ) another way of getting and staying on air. Rich was successful in modifying his home gutter system to work several HF Ham Radio bands. If you can't see the video, please go here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuEdsK8q_jU Here are some comments from Rich: Using and Icom IC 7300 the antenna is the gutter. If you tuck in the wiring under the eves of the house, this gutter antenna could be a great stealth antenna for your Ham Radio. Effective Indoor Antennas

Image
If you live in deed-restricted housing (HOA/CC&Rs), indoor antennas may be the only way to get on the air. In this video, Dave Casler (KE0OG) explores several ideas for effective indoor antennas.  Experiment with these ideas and see what works best for you. If you can't see the video, please go here" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bxq1xhu4mLI Here are some comments from Dave (KE0OG): Peirre, KM4WSJ, lives in Florida and is often victim to powerful lightning and thunder storms and is forced to disconnect his antenna. His question to Dave, Can you recommend a homebrew antenna that I could use indoors and could switch from the outdoor to the indoor during thunderstorms? 3 cheap wire antennas for new ham radio operators

Image
If you need a good, easily deployable HF antenna, then this presentation from Callum (M0MCX) will be a welcome addition to your antenna resources. Callum explores three basic antenna types which can be used in a variety of home station and field operations.  Most of these antennas can be made with locally available materials at a reasonable cost. If you can't see the video, please go here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pg7WbTEkFds Here are some comments from Callum (M0MCX): I show you exactly how to build the THREE best wire antennas that all ham radio operators should be able to build in their sleep. Tape Measure EFHW Antenna Test (Part 2)

Image
Here's part 2 of Paul's (OM0ET) Tape Measure EFHW Antenna. In this video, Paul takes his antenna to the field and tests how effective and efficient the homebrewed antenna is. If you can't see the video, please go here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7O6hOuRixQ Here are some comments from Paul (OM0ET): This is a following video of an experiment https://youtu.be/pEI5K-j1Koo where I used a Tape Measure as an antenna. In this video I was testing this antenna in the forest with a new Xiegu X6100 transceiver and an antenna analyser Mini 1300. Ham Radio-Adding a 1:1 choke to the EFHW Antenna

Image
If you want to reduce the noise on your End Fed Halfwave Antenna (EFHW), a simple 1:1 choke may help solve the problem. In this video, Kevin Loughin (KB9RLW) shows us how to build this valuable accessory for your antenna system. If you can see the video, please go here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZH1YlzU21q8 Here are some comments from Kevin (KB9RLW): How well does a choke reduce noise? Pretty well. Here's a video on the choke, if you're interested. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kY2r... If you like my videos, please subscribe here: http://www.youtube.com/user/loughkb?s... Portable 40 Meter Vertical Antenna Build

Image
Thanks to Steve (KA0SPM) for this "portable" 40 Meter Vertical Antenna project.  This build provides a sturdy support for a 1/4 wavelength antenna. Because of the antenna's size, you may need a small truck to take this project to a field site.  This antenna is suitable for both home station use and field operations such as the ARRL Field Day in late June. Tape Measure EFHW portable QRP antenna experiment

Image
Radio Amateurs have used a variety of materials for emergency and portable antennas.  Among the choices available for such antennas is the readily available and fairly inexpensive steel tape measure. In this video, Paul (OM0ET) experiments with an EFHW HF Antenna using the common metal tape measure. While the steel used in the tape measure is not the ideal radiator, it does work and will provide a usable field expedient antenna. If you can't see the video, please go here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEI5K-j1Koo Here are some comments from Paul (OM0ET): I had an idea to try to use the tape measure as an antenna :) I decided to do this experiment, despite I am not sure if the steel is material good enough for the antenna purposes. The cost of all components used for this project did not exceed 20€. In the next video, I would like to test this antenna if it works or not, so I am very curious :D - similar steel 50m Tape Measure: https://www.thetapestore.co.uk/fisco-... #Tape
