Using a mobile HF antenna in a fixed location

A properly installed mobile HF antenna, complete with a ground radial/counterpoise system and good quality coaxial cable, can often be a good substitute for a permanent full-sized dipole or vertical antenna. David Casler (KE0OG) discusses the pros and cons of using mobile antennas for your base or home ham radio station. While such an arrangement is not ideal, it will get you on the air and could serve as an emergency or "stealth" antenna if no other choices are available. If you live in deed-restricted housing or have little or no room for a regular HF antenna, a mobile HF Antenna could get you on the air with minimum expense. In this presentation from David Casler (KE0OG), we learn how a small mobile HF Antenna can be used in otherwise difficult conditions to give you a way to get and stay on the air.   David offers both a theoretical and practical approach to using mobile HF Antennas as home-based antennas.
