5/8 Wave 10m Vertical Antenna Build

Image
If you have an old CB (11-meter) 5/8 wave antenna, you may be able to convert it to 10 meter use. In this video, Ian shows us how to make a 5/8 wave 10 meter antenna from an old CB antenna and a few easily obtainable parts. If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box:   5/8th Wave 10m Vertical Antenna Build - YouTube Here are some comments from Ian: Further development of a design from the website below where a commercial 5/8ths wave CB antenna is reverse engineered. This enhanced model is tuned specifically for the 10m amateur band and also adopts a ferrite choke, which is an improved option over the air-wound choke which is also shown in the build. The parts for this simple DIY build probably already exist in your shack? If not, they come to about £5 for the air-wound choke model, or about £10 if you go for the ferrite choke model. A list of parts: Main Antenna = 3.5m RG58 coax + 3.25m of insulated wire Air-Wound Choke = 3.6m RG58 coax

Ham Radio 40/80/160 Meter Inverted V Dipole Antenna

Image
Thanks to Dave Tadlock (KG0ZZ) for this 3-band inverted V antenna project.  According to Dave, this coil-loaded HF antenna covers the 40/80160 meter bands without an antenna "tuner." This antenna requires only a single supporting mast, which can be made of wood or PVC pipe. The thought of doing this may be a little scary, but I promise you it is not. I will show you how to find pretty much all your parts locally and some online, build the antenna in about 30 minutes and be up and running. We literally build this antenna from stuff I got at Walmart and Home Depot and Amazon. Links to most everything is below.
