Unless you're using resonant HF antennas, an antenna transmatch (i.e. "tuner") is a "must have accessory" for your shack. In this video, Michael Martens (KB9VRB) shows us how to use the popular LDG-211-Pro II antenna tuner with the Yaesu FT-891 portable transceiver. Here are some of Michael's comments: How to use an automatic antenna tuner with the Yaesu FT-891. In this video I show you the steps to set up and configure the LDG Z11 Pro II auto tuner with the Yaesu FT-891 portable HF transceiver. Become a patron! Here's another interesting "stealth" antenna for radio amateurs living in deed-restricted housing (HOA/CC&Rs). In this case, the antenna stands in the front yard and remains concealed in plain sight. Here are some additional comments from the video author ("Shacking Off"): I put up a semi-stealth multi-band vertical ham radio antenna in the front yard of an HOA restricted neighborhood. Why did I do it? How did I do it? Does it work? Do I go to HOA jail? Stay tuned! SHOW MORE Thanks for joining us today. Aloha es 73 de Russ (KH6JRM).

One of the less enjoyable tasks of using an HF vertical antenna is the installation of a decent ground radial system. In this video, Callum (M0MCX--the "DX Commander") shows us a better way to install a radial field.  The important thing to remember is to get yourself and your materials organized before you "plant" your radial system in your back yard. Here are some comments from Callum: The BIG Nebula eXtreme multi-band antenna is nearing installation. In this video, we lay out 2,000 feet (nearly 600m) of copper as the ground. I'm using the biodegradable radial pins from my store here: https://www.m0mcx.co.uk/store/product... . Exciting project. Can't wait to get on 40m and 80m with this.. If you're looking for a commercially-made HF antenna, then this tutorial from "learningbyelectronics" may be what you need. The antenna featured in this program is the popular Hustler 4-BTV from DX Engineering. The video takes us from unpacking the antenna through its assembly and testing. If you decide to make your own ground radial plate, you can use a large aluminum pizza pan available at Walmart.  Good luck on your new antenna! ----- Thanks for joining us today. If you want a simple, inexpensive, and easy-to-build HF antenna for both home and portable use, then this "L Dipole Antenna" from Johnny (W5KV) is what you're looking for. In some ways, this antenna resembles the popular "Inverted L Antenna", but with a top loading wire replaced by near ground counterpoise wire. Johnny says the antenna works well despite its simplicity. Here are some of Johnny's comments: Introducing the 'L' Dipole antenna. If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PniH4ua4p50 This is post 2582 in a continuing series of simple ham radio antennas. If you need a quick, free, and easy-to-install antenna for 2m and 70 cm, please consider this wonderfully simple project using metal coat hangers. You may be able to find most of the antenna materials in your home or at a neighborhood yard sale. The antenna works very well and is quite "stealthy." Mike (M0MSN) does an excellent job of assembling this easily-made antenna. Here are some of Mike's comments. A really quick antenna for 2 metres and 70 centimetres, made from just 2 metal coat hangers and a small length of strip connector just add the fun. Next time coax traps on the DX commander I do hope you enjoy it and subscribe for more..
