If you're having trouble viewing this video, please insert this URL into your browser search box: https://youtu.be/MxG3Iw49glg. Here's another simple antenna that could be erected as a "stealth" antenna for those living in deed-restricted situations.  This end-fed antenna kit was made originally by the Emergency Amateur Radio Club of Honolulu and was sold commercially for many years.  In this video, we see how easily this antenna can be assembled, erected, and used successfully on several amateur radio bands from 6 to 40 meters.  This end-fed antenna would also serve very well as a portable or emergency antenna.  You may want to contact the club directly to see if the kit is still being offered for sale (http://www.earchi.org). Good luck!  For the latest Amateur Radio news and events, please check out the blog sidebars.  Theses news feeds are updated daily. Simple Ham Radio Antennas--Triband end fed half wave antenna for portable use. Post #587.

If you're having trouble viewing this video, please insert this URL into your browser search box: https://youtu.be/TV3Cj2J3T20. Here's another simple, effective, and easy to build antenna from Peter (VK3YE).  This time, Peter designs and builds a triband end fed half wave antenna that covers 40 meters , 20 meters and 10 meters .  The antenna is a half wave on 20 meters and a loaded half wave on 40 meters.  The antenna can also work fairly well on 10 meters.  A broadband transformer replaces the antenna coupler. Although this arrangement is less efficient than an L-match, it does allow instant band switching.  The bandwidth is very narrow on 40 meters (150 kHz ).  This antenna would make an excellent antenna for backpacking, pedestrian mobile, SOTA, or emergency use. Peter got good results with his Yaesu FT-817 QRP rig.  This would make an excellent weekend project.  For the latest Amateur Radio news and events, please check out the blog sidebars.  These news feeds ar

This is one of the better Amateur Radio promotional videos online .  The Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB) has done an excellent, often inspiring job of showing the world what amateur radio is , what it can do, and how it serves our local communities.  The video features Peter Goodhall (2E0SQL) working amateur radio satellites and Doug Wheelock (KF5BOC) talking about amateur radio from the International Space Station .  This video would make an outstanding introduction to ham radio for a beginner's license class.  For the latest Amateur Radio news and events, please check out the blog sidebars.  These news feeds are updated daily.  You can follow our blog community with a free email subscription or by tapping into the blog RSS feed.
