Simple vertical antenna for portable DX.

Thanks to Tim (G5TM) for this informative, detailed, and fascinating account of his latest multiband HF portable antenna. With the possible exception of a 9:1 balun, most of the antenna materials should be available either from your "shack" or from online suppliers. It doesn't take a lot of money to make a simple, effective 10 meter Amateur Radio antenna. In this video from the "Ham Radio Concepts Amateur Radio Channel", we see how a few basic parts can be transformed into a useful antenna for for home, mobile, and portable use. Here are some comments from the presentation: My $3 Melbourne, FL Hamfest find, a 3 dollar 20 meter hamstick, and i reworked it for 10 meters. This video is to show the newcomer or the seasoned operator WHY it is fun to experiment and homebrew. This is what the hobby is all about. You don't need a ton of money, just a little bit of effort and some ingenuity, and the end result is so much more rewarding. 73, please subscribe, thumbs up, and check out my other videos.. ----- Thanks for joining us today. Double Extended Zepp Antenna

Image
Here's another great antenna idea for the ARRL Field Day Event (last full weekend in June). In this video, Stan Gibilisco (W1GV) shows us how to design, build, and test the "Double Extended Zepp Antenna."  This antenna consists of two collinear 5/8 wavelength elements fed in phase.  This antenna design provides approximately 3dB gain over a dipole antenna. Long Wire Antenna Build

Image
Installed with a proper ground radial or counterpoise system, a random length long wire antenna makes an excellent temporary or emergency antenna. In this video, Jez (2J4EZ) takes us step-by-step through the design, construction, and testing of a long wire antenna.  Most of the materials for this antenna can be found at the nearest building supply outlet or neighborhood hardware store. If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RU0DhCkglfw Here are some comment from Jez (2J4EZ): In this weeks video we build a simple long wire antenna. You might have the parts sitting there in your shack to build one yourself . This antenna is nice and simple to build so give it a try yourself #long wire antenna #2j4ez #antenna ----- Thanks for joining us today. Aloha es 73 de Russ (KH6JRM).
