Insane 20cm aluminum-foil antenna for 10m

Image
Radio amateurs have used almost anything made of metal for antennas.  How about using common aluminum foil as an impromptu or emergency antenna? In this fascinating video, David (DL1DN) experiments with a rolled-up piece of aluminum foil as an antenna for the 10 meter Amateur Radio Band.  Believe it not, the antenna works.  You have to see to believe this. Make A Great HF Antenna-Easy!

Image
The "classic" doublet antenna is one of the easiest, most efficient antennas available to radio amateurs. In this video from SOTA (Summits On The Air) co-founder Richard Newstead (G3CWI), we learn how to design, build, test, and use this multiband HF antenna. If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ak9mJOcyhbs Here are some comments from Richard (G3CWI): The doublet is a very efficient and effective multi-band antenna. In this video I show just how easy it is to make one! This antenna covers 80-10m with a suitable antenna tuner. Ideally, use a tuner with a balanced input or put a suitable 1:1 balun between the antenna and an unbalanced tuner. Questions? Ask them in the commenbts below. HF Linear Loading Antennas for Small Gardens

Image
If you can't fit a full-size HF dipole antenna on your property, then this idea from Peter Waters (G3OJV) is worth considering. In this video, Peter (G3OJV) explains the theory and practice of HF Linear Loading Antennas--antennas that perform nearly as well as fill-size dipole antennas. If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSxg7XQFwIE Here's a brief analysis of the video: Fitting HF antennas into small gardens can be a real problem. Linear loading is one answer to the problem. Here, Peter G3OJV, explains one simple method of reducing your antenna size with the minimal amount of performance (loss with)450 Ohm Ladder Line https://hamradiostore.co.uk/search/?q... ----- Thanks for joining us today. Triple Six HF Multiband Delta Loop for 10-24 MHz

Image
Here's a great multiband HF antenna for restricted space or portable operations. In this video from radio amateur Peter Parker (VK3YE), learn how make a simple, vertically polarized Delta Loop Antenna for 10-24 MHz.    As Peter suggests, this antenna has some DX potential at a modest cost. If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3uZWJdvZ8I Here are some comments from Peter (VK3YE): Got 18 metres of wire, a couple of poles and not much space? If so this vertically polarised delta loop might work for you. It operates from 10 to 24 MHz and can give DX contacts. But is it directive? Watch the video and find out.
