ARRL Field Day Prep-2022

Image
A good introduction to ARRL Field Day operations from Anthony Luscre (K8ZT) and Marty Woll (NbVI). The video covers set up, operation, and take down of a portable Field Day ham radio station.  ARRL Field Day is held on the last full weekend of June. The only issue I find with this otherwise excellent presentation is the uneven audio levels from the video. Thanks for joining us today. Aloha es 73 de Russ (KH6JRM).

Old tv rabbit ears junk box 2 meter antenna

Image
Many older televisions came equipped with a simple "rabbit ears" antenna. As Kevin Loughin (KB9RLW) explains, this old tv antenna can be repurposed into a simple, effective 2 meter antenna. If you need a standby, emergency 2 meter antenna, then that old television set in your garage could be the source of a free, easily converted antenna for 2 meter use. Insane 20cm aluminum foil antenna for 10m

Image
Aluminum foil is a versatile, inexpensive material for emergency and portable HF antennas. In this video from David (DL1DN), we see how a short length of aluminum foil and a loading coil can be used to make a field expedient 10m antenna. Make one of these antennas for your "Go-Kit." If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDV9eA6S6q8 Here are some comments from David (DL1DN): Awesome 20cm antenna made of aluminum foil. I just test this stupid antenna and it works 😉 Check what is possible with QRP and 20cm antenna. 73 David DL1DN

Frame Antenna vs Magloop Antenna (Indoor Test), part 2

Image
In part two of his Frame Antenna Project, Paul (OM0ET) completes the antenna and compares it to a Magloop Antenna in his apartment. If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCDe7B6CLDg Here are a few comments from Paul (OM0ET): Part 2 of the series about the home made Frame Antenna project. In the first part I have built my first Frame Antenna ever ( https://youtu.be/VaPikKiLVD4 ) In this part I wanted to test this Frame Antenna in practice indoors and as a reference antenna I used my famous portable Magloop Antenna UltraLight MC-20 ( https://om0et.com/ultralight-mla-mc-2... ). Outside was very cold and windy winter weather with approx. 0C so I decided to make this video rather indoors. I hope you enjoy the video ;) Best 73, Paul. PS: sorry for poor audio, I didn't had an external lavalier mic. #FrameAntenna #MagneticLoopAntenna #Comparison ------ Thanks for joining us today. Aloha es 73 de Russ

5-Band Frame Antenna, Part 1

Image
Thanks to OM0ET for this compact, multiband HF Antenna. In part 1 of this 2-part series, we get an excellent introduction to the theory and construction process for this "classic" HF Antenna. If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaPikKiLVD4 Here are some comments from OM0ET: The Frame antenna is not a new idea. It was used during the world wars. Due to its dimensions it can be used in restricted space like balcony, portable or indoors conditions. Frame antenna in this video works on 80M, 60M, 40M, 30M and a bit on 20M. I hope you will enjoy this "how to do" film 😉👍 1st part is about the construction. In the 2nd part I will test this antenna. web links to the source: - http://ok1ike.c-a-v.com/soubory/kv_ra...
