For may radio amateurs, the 2020 ARRL Field Day will be quite different than operations in years past.  Many of us will be operating from our home shacks or highly restricted areas because of the coronavirus. In this video, Michael Martens (KB9VBR) reviews some of the challenges presented by home operations.  In some respects, the COVID-19 will force many hams to implement emergency communications in a real-world scenario.  The coronavirus Field Day will give us excellent practice in becoming self-sufficient.  A little "real" practice will help all radio amateurs become more prepared for emergencies. Like many of my fellow radio amateurs, I once lived in a deed-controlled apartment which restricted the kind of antennas I could use. With a little creativity, I was able to get on the air with a homemade indoor loop.  Not perfect by any means, but I did get on the air. In this video from Lucien (DH7LM), we get a good, positive, and simple way to get on the air from restrictive housing covenants. Julien outlines steps you can take to return to the airwaves without arousing the suspicions of nosey neighbors. Here are some of Julien's comments: "Many hams nowadays have to deal with antenna restrictions of one form or another and simply can't put up "dream antennas" and have to find solutions. Here are some ideas for ham radio operators in the same boat and

J. Mitch Hopper (K9ZXO) takes us through the steps needed to go solo on Field Day by operating 1-D (commercial mains) and 1-E (battery, solar power, generator) from your home station. The ARRL has bent the rules a bit to give individual radio club members a way to help th
