If you are forced to use indoor antennas because of deed restrictions (HOA/CC&Rs), you may find this indoor bent vertical from KL7JR interesting.

Basically, the antenna is a vertical helix wrapped around some PVC pipe.  Used with an antenna transmatch (i.e. t"tuner"), the antenna provides coverage between 10 and 20 meters.  A cheap, effective antenna for apartment dwellers.
